Another Road Trip for our Volunteers

Following our three day residency at Swardeston Common during August our volunteers hit the road again to take their expertise to a number of sites around Norwich. We had a variety of tasks to undertake to keep on top of our Summer programme of cutting and clearing to maintain paths at our sites. So, as well as working our wonders at the sites we also had to remember which site to visit on which day! Anyway, it was an opportunity to explore Norwich and its surroundings. Clearing an Alder Copse

This week (7/8th March) we were working along the Marriott’s Way – the route of the old railway line between Norwich and Reepham – clearing an Alder copse alongside the embankment near Pendlesham Drive where the road between the two areas of Thorpe Marriott crosses the path. Contractors had previously felled a number of large Alders and we were working on behalf of Broadland District Council to clear the area. Continue reading Clearing an Alder Copse

Clearing Suter Drive Pond

Friday 14th September 2018

On Friday we ventured out to Thorpe Marriott to clear in and around a pond on behalf of the Broadland District Council. In an attractive spot between Marriott’s Way and Suter Drive a pond was gradually getting choked up with reed mace and needed to be cleared. There were also plenty of other jobs to do (for those who didn’t want to venture into the water!) including cutting back the sides of the paths, repairing broken rails on a kissing gate and replacing boards on a fishing platform.
