Strawberry Field, near Eaton is a new location for our Volunteers and during November we made three visits to this site off Bluebell Road in Eaton all led by Paula. The field was once used for growing strawberries but has been fallow for many years. There is a well-used footpath along the field edge between Bluebell Road and the River Yare and in the summer the field is used for launching hot air balloons. Continue reading Strawberries and Rain
Following our three day residency at Swardeston Common during August our volunteers hit the road again to take their expertise to a number of sites around Norwich. We had a variety of tasks to undertake to keep on top of our Summer programme of cutting and clearing to maintain paths at our sites. So, as well as working our wonders at the sites we also had to remember which site to visit on which day! Anyway, it was an opportunity to explore Norwich and its surroundings. Our Thursday group of volunteers have been steadily working their way down river to tidy up two more sections of the Yare Valley. Thursday 14th & Friday 15th June 2018
Our volunteers were busy in the Yare Valley last week tidying up at Bowthorpe and Earlham.
Our Thursday group met up at Bowthorpe Southern Park to weed around the trees planted by the Fringe Project on behalf of the Norfolk Rivers Trust back in 2016. We still remember that extremely wet and muddy day back in January 2016 when we fenced-off three areas along the river bank and then planted these up with whips. Continue reading A Good Old Tidy Up!
